Bear Grass Suites Assisted Living
WHAT IS
ASSISTED LIVING?
Assisted
living can be the best of both worlds. Residents have as much independence as
they want with the comfort and knowledge that personal care and support
services are available if they should need them. Assisted living is intended to
provide residents with assistance with basic activities of daily living (ADLs)
such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and medication assistance and/or reminders
as needed. Assisted living facilities offer a less complex level of medical
services than that of nursing homes.
At
Bear Grass Suites, residents have a suite that is made up of a
kitchenette/living area, bedroom, and private bathroom with a walk in shower.
Bear Grass Suites features a very “homey” feel to each suite as well as the
common areas.
WHO
NEEDS ASSISTED LIVING?
Assisted
living residents are usually seniors, age 55 and up, who have had either a
slight decline in health in some way and need assistance performing one or more
activities of daily living (ADLs), or would like to live in a social
environment with less responsibility and a place where care is easily
accessible whenever the resident may need.
WHAT
IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ASSISTED LIVING & NURSING HOMES?
Nursing
homes are intended to meet the needs of older adults who require 24 hour care
at a much higher level than those that reside at an assisted living, such as Bear
Grass Suites.
WHAT
HAPPENS WHEN THE RESIDENT’S LEVEL OF CARE NEEDS TO INCREASE?
At
Bear Grass Suites, the resident is able to age in place. We are able to provide this by having a few
options. Health care providers can be contracted, so that the resident can
remain in his/her home at Bear Grass Suites as the level of care increases. The
care is paid for on top of the monthly rent and varies depending on the amount
of care needed.
WHAT
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES AND AMENITIES are provided?
Assisted
living communities offer their residents prepared meals three times a day and
help with light housekeeping and laundry. In our local community our residents have
access to a fitness center, swimming pools, beauty salons, post office, bank,
grocery store, and pharmacy. Bear Grass Suites Assisted Living provides
activities, which are geared toward meeting individual resident needs and
interests.
HOW
ARE ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES LICENSED?
Montana
has set regulations to clearly distinguish an assisted living community from
other long-term care facilities. Bear Grass Suites is currently a category A
license holder. The state of Montana also monitors and regulates resident care,
food, and safety.
HOW
DO YOU PAY FOR ASSISTED LIVING?
Assisted living is typically paid for from private funds, but there are a few exceptions. Some long-term care insurance policies cover licensed assisted living. Check your or your loved one’s insurance policy to see if it is covered. Also, if the resident is a veteran of a war or is the spouse of a war veteran, he/she may qualify for some Veteran’s Benefits that can be used to help pay for the assisted living.
